Students with strong leadership skills have confidence in their abilities, are better equipped to solve their own problems, can work well with others and are prepared for their futures. Building leadership is a lifelong process and should start at an early age.

Leadership skills inspire students to learn, to set and achieve goals and are necessary for students to be successful in their future careers. Educators need to take into account students’ strengths and personalities to make sure all students are included in the work to improve leadership. When students understand they have an important role in the culture of their school, they are more likely to be engaged and be a productive member of that culture. Building leadership skills gives them a voice, encourages them to be role models, make good decisions for the good of everyone, and strive to make the world around them a better place.

This PD workshop will cover areas improved by building leadership skills in students including work habits, self-awareness, social and communication skills, collaboration, teamwork, confidence, self-efficacy, and independence among others. A TEAMologist will strategize with participants regarding leadership opportunities they can provide for their students and making sure all students are involved in the process. Participants will leave with tips and strategies to teach, reinforce and build leadership in all students.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Learn how to help students recognize their strengths and how they can translate into successes in other areas of their lives
  • Learn how to teach students what it means to be a leader and how they can use these skills in and out of school.
  • Gain an understanding of how to recognize and reinforce when students are being positive role models and provide leadership opportunities for them.
