Activity – 7th Grade – Ruby
Jump In, Jump Out
Procedure
- Have everyone stand in a circle and hold hands.
- Explain to the group there are four things they will have to do:
- Jump in – everyone takes a jump forward, while holding hands
- Jump out – everyone takes a jump backward, while holding hands
- Jump right – everyone takes a jump to the right, while holding hands
- Jump left – everyone takes a jump to the left, while holding hands
- Next, tell them in the first round they will repeat what you say and do what you say. So if you say “jump in” – everyone says “jump in” while they all jump in. Give them a minute of this round while you yell directions.
- Move on to round two. Explain to students that now they must do what you say but say the opposite. So if you say “jump in” – everyone says “jump out” while they all jump in. Give them a couple minutes of this round while you yell directions.
- Move on to the third round. Explain to students that now they must say what you say but do the opposite. So if you say “jump in” – everyone will say “jump in” while they all jump out. Give them a couple minutes of this round while you yell directions.
